The daily grind.
Seeing as you may not know the situation where I work, let me give you a small introduction:
I shall use no real names, I shall use names such as “Girl1″ and so on to a) protect their identity from wannabe hitmen and b) to stop any shenanigans if anyone was to read this blog.
I work in a company of about 8 people, it deals with trainings and seminars for people who want to start a new life (so to speak). It teaches people to use parts of their brains they never used before and gives them a good angle to start a new chapter of their life. Of course I dont believe all this rubbish, I merely update the website for them.
I share an office with two women (infact the whole company is staffed by women), Girl1 and Girl2 we shall call them. Girl1 (who sits opposite me) is a year older than me and her job is to help me with webpage changes and deal with emails. To her credit, she knows alot about everyones roles and is a good “filler-inner” as I like to put it. Girl2 (who sits to the right of me) is two years younger than me and is the graphic designer. She has the cushty job of having a Mac G5 and a PC to do a little bit of Photoshop and Swish (poor man’s Flash).
Now, here is were it gets confusing…….I have two managers, one is my line manager: LittleBoss and the other is a director of the company: BigBoss. Girl2 is BigBoss’s daughter and also has a sister: Girl2Sis in the bottom office. Lets just say its a family affair. The other people in the office you dont need to know about, but I will list them incase I reference them in the future:
- East17 - Name derived from a song we sing about her.
- TheMother - The oldest of us all, the mother so-to-speak.
- Cool - Name derived from song we sing about her (different person).
Most of these people’s roles are to help sell and provide paperwork for the courses we sell. I only interact with Girl1 and Girl2 because we are meant to form “The Media Team”. This teams role is to update the internet and keep it all up to scratch.
I myself have the role of “Web Admin”. I am the one who introduces the big guns to the site, the new E-Commerce sites and the fancy new statistics packages to tell what Tom, Dick and Harry has been on our site. Its a slow paced job that only see’s hard work when BigBoss and LittleBoss get reactive instead of proactive.
Thats my arrangement, small and a little quaint but it pays the bills.
