Two Months (and one day!) On

I can’t believe it’s been two months since I walked down the aisle and married the woman I love.

In this time we have secured a marital home, furnished it from top to bottom with some very nice pieces and started new businesses and jobs. All signs point to good times ahead, especially now I look forward to events as a team, share experiences with my partner.

The football season is upon us and I have managed to shed six pounds since our Honeymoon which has cheered me up no end! Katie and I are regular gym goers, walking to as many places as we can to get that extra bit of fitness.

No news on my car as yet, I have spoken to a few dealers now and they recommend selling it privately and then paying off the finance company direct, instead of taking a hit on a part exchange. That doesn’t worry me though, I will get it sorted in the long run :)

One worrying thing is, I will be turning 25 at the end of this month, I am now looking down the barrel at 30……*cue dramatic music* With the addition of two kittens next month and hopefully some little sprogs a little further down the line, I will be a happy man.

Let’s Get Healthy

The start of the Sunday League football season is upon us and suddenly I am realising my age. As I have been preparing with our pre-season training, I have found it much more difficult to get back to peak fitness, whereas in my younger days it was a quick jog and a bottle of Lucozade and I was back running millions of miles.

Katie has been looking for healthier recipes for dinner and she has really come up trumps, just this week I have enjoyed a new citrusy chicken meal and pork and pineapple kebabs. This coupled with trips to the gym have allowed us to start the long road towards full physical and mental wellbeing.

Now, if I could only stop helping myself to the odd bit of chocolate!

Wii Fit

You may have seen the adverts, Wii Fit has finally hit our shores. After reading Hotukdeals where they suggested Sainsbury’s may be the best place to buy Wii Fit, myself and Katie ventured to that very supermarket on the Friday night.

With the added bonus that if you spend over £50 you get a coupon for money off petrol, we purchased Wii Fit and also I am Legend and headed home in order to bust out and get Wii “fit”.

It was a good night, we hulaed, we skied, we ran and we did press ups, we were very hot by the end of the night! I recommend getting it, the Wii Board knows when you give up, it calculates your weight and BMI and helps chart your progress as you bust out the moves. It even knows when you hold your breath, that’s a tad freaky!

Yoga

YogaYesterday I attended a yoga class. I accompanied Katie to the local fitness centre she is a member of and prepared to do lots of stretching and chanting and letting out farts at inopportune moments (I’ve always been told lots of people do that).

Walking into the room, Katie and I grabbed a yoga mat and found a space in the gym that we could place ourselves. A woman walks up to us and enquires as to whether it was out first time and that if we feel uncomfortable in the poses, we should not attempt to keep trying as to injure ourselves.

Shoes and socks off? Check.

The music is switched-on, it’s your usual serene piano and swooshing sounds. We are told to lay our our backs and breathe deeply, next to sit cross legged, something that doesn’t come easily to me! The rest of the room are sitting in their meditative poses as I struggle to tuck my long legs in under my body.

We stretch and make sure that our breathing matches our moves, breathing in for lifts and then exhaling as we relax from the pose. Problem is, I am relaxed but I am sweating like a paedophile in a nursery (no offence intended folks!). I am struggling to keep balance, touch my toes and look as at ease as the rest of the people in the room, I must have looked like a Giraffe!

Coming to the end, I spoke to the woman who took the class, I enquired as to whether sweating was a bad thing. Yeah, you guessed it, I was doing it all wrong. You are meant to let the breathing help take the strain out of the positions, whereas me hanging onto my feet and hoping I’m doing it right might not have been the object of the exercise.

I enjoyed it immensely, I think I will be accompanying Katie next week!

….and yes, I got ribbed, I was ribbed by Katie’s Dad and various co-workers.
