I’m Marrying a News Reporter

This weekend was a sociable one and I am paying for it now.

On Friday, it was meant to be a quiet night and on the most part it was. Myself and Katie sat and watched some TV and she then decided to go to bed quite early. I wasn’t feeling tired myself so I retired to the front room and fired up the Xbox. Online was the always humorous honest_ape and his wife, a dynamic duo who politely invited me into their well formed tactical unit so we could unleash hell on the bevy of 13 year olds skulking in the hallways of Halo 3’s multiplayer.

Punishment was swift and in some cases painful. So lost in the game I was, I lost track of time, to the tune of three hours. As 12:15am in the morning rolled up, I powered down and then retreated to bed in the pitch black, feeling so weary that I was tripping up stairs and fumbling through doorways.

Waking up early 8 hours later in the morning, myself and Katie went back to my parents and checked in to see how they were. My stepdad, in the two weeks since we had been round, had managed to build decking with covering in their garden. The quality of the deck was so good I would have sworn that they had paid a team of builders to make it. We left and came back home to clean the house in preparation for guests later that evening.

The evening in question was a masonary dinner and dance. Myself and Katie arent masons (yet), but we were attending as Katie’s parents guests. Here is where the News Reporter part comes into play.

Around 5pm, we were all dolled up in our dinner suits and dresses. Photos were taken:

The woman just above is a British news presenter, famed for brightening up peoples mornings when she presented Breakfast News. How alike are they?!

That night, many people commented on how beautiful she looked and I have to admit I felt so lucky to be by her side :) We were introduced to many people, did the smiling and nodding in all the right places and were served with a lovely three course meal.

We ran off early and we went home to get some rest for today where we went to see my brother play his first match in goal, he did very well. Later in the afternoon, we went out for lunch, watched Man Utd beat Arsenal and then watch another Katie lookalike, Katherine Heigl, in 27 Dresses (a hooky copy).

I am shattered, I shall shortly be heading to sleep!

She really is beautiful. You’re lucky to get such a catch. Being so god-awful ugly and all. :)

I’m disappointed to read that you watched (shudder) 27 Dresses, but more disappointed to hear you call Heigel a look-alike for Katie. Gaaah! Heigel’s an ugly tramp next to Katie. Not to mention she’s a righteous bitch in real life.

  2. Matt Says:

Katie does have a passing resemblance, I would show you but I don’t want pictures of her plastered all over the interweb, although my ugly mug is fine!

    I am lucky :)

  3. Sam Says:

I’ll be honest..I was expecting to hear Katie had a new job? But now you mention it I do see the resemblance!

  4. Matt Says:

She does have a new job but unfortunately it’s nothing as glamorous as news reading!

  5. Sam Says:

Give her my congratulations! Seems to be the recent trend getting a new job! Haha

WOW!! Your are one lucky guy. I was just reading your blog. I highly recommend that you consider joining a Masonic Lodge and then following up with The Scottish Rite and/or York Rite. And, you and your lovely wife can together join The Order of Eastern Star which is for both men and women. You and your readers will be interested in the following blog post on my blog:
http://www.cemeteryspot.com/blog/?p=119 . Please have your father-in-law pass this on to as many brother Masons and Lodges as you can worldwide. We would like to make this a central place where the life of everday Masons can seen and where people will recognize that Masonry really does make good men better.

  7. Matt Says:

    Hal, thanks for you comment!

We shall be joining, the main thing people keep telling me is that I am too young and might not be able to dedicate enough time to the process, I think that is rubbish personally. I play quite a bit of football and that seems to clash with meetings at the moment.

I will take a look at your site, looks really good by the way :)

Who knew posting a picture of my wife to be would cause such a stir!
