Usually Gmail’s spam filter is exemplary and I never even receive a whiff of Spam in my Inbox. Over the last two days however, one type of Spam has been circumventing the filter and very annoyingly making it’s way into the sacred zone of my Inbox.
The screenshot below shows what the message contains:
It is quite unremarkable and doesn’t really offer much (which is probably why it slipped through). I haven’t bothered to open the .zip file for fear of infection (haha, infection).
Anyone else been getting this? It seems to be one every hour or so. Being a diligent user, I have used the Report Spam button repeatedly but they still keep slipping through.
I have now added this button to put a spanner in the spammers works (love the aliteration?)

I’ve been getting that spam at my work email for quite some time now, and a couple bits here and there are coming through my gmail… I just tend to mark as spam. Other than that, I don’t get any other spam…
Haven’t gotten it. The last spam email I got must have been from an Asian country, as I got the weird symbols I get whenever I look at a Japanese website.
Otherwise, no spam activity. Maybe because I’m already a master in bed games.
I get the Russian ones with weird letters, but these new ones have been coming through a lot lately.
I was thinking of submitting it to Google Groups but thought that was a tad geeky.
Since I am the admin of the server where my e-mail is hosted, I have a lot more control over it.
I have been keeping all my spam in a specific folder in my IMAP tree, then using the ’sa-learn’ command at a shell prompt to teach Spam Assassin what is spam. So far, it’s been pretty productive, but I am still getting a fair amount of junk.
We’ve been seeing this at work too, so don’t feel like you’re the only one. You’re not /that/ special!
