The Milk of Human Kindness
Posted by Matt under Niceness, People
It’s not often I would title a blog post with a Macbeth quote but after a rather nice act of kindness from a stranger at the weekend, I have been compelled to use it.
Myself and Katie were in town looking to get a few bits for our holiday. We ventured into a jewellers and found the rings we wanted for our wedding, a very nice assistant making sure we got all we needed as we laid down quite a hefty sum of money.
Moving onto a shop called GAME, Katie wanted me to get Guitar Hero 3, so much so she bought it for me. As we came up to pay, a random guy paying on the till next to me asks me if I want his points, by this he means his GAME reward points. I was like YEAH! and duly gave him my card. Little did I know that the guy was buying a brand new Xbox 360, Guitar Hero 3 and three other games. The points total meant that I received £7.50 in points just from his transaction, meaning that in the future I can get games at a reduced price.
Who says that the art of giving is dead? It’s a shame I wasn’t able to return the favour!

And so 4rthur is no more…

If you have perused the links on the left hand side of this blog you may have stumbled across 4rthur. 4rthur [was] a messageboard where people would post daily goings on, what they had for lunch or when they were due to have their vasectomy. It was a place where I have met people via the board and gone onto meet them in real life.
Unfortunately the last time there was a boardquake, the admin has decided to to retire its jersey. There were accusations of cliques ganging up on other members and whatnot, none of it involved me and if something did, it was a messageboard, you took it as a sign of affection.
Thanks goes out to munkt0n for creating 4rthur, it was his blood sweat and tears that went into that place and for years it was a place to hang out and have a laugh. I understand his reasons but I dont intend on letting it die completely. I have been in contact with numerous members and 4rthur have formed a crack team of geeks and OCD sufferers to help design a new one. We are currently in the progress of developing the registration system and the message board, discussion will also go into renaming the place, that will be a democratic decision by all the other members who have mobbed Dynofoo and Cliqr.
So, not all is lost. People may not come back to the new place, they will be missed, but hopefully 4rthur will live on.

Life, Love and Ankles

Please dont feed the Matt, he is a broken man.
I must say, it is good to be back in Blighty, you tend to miss the home comforts when you are away for so long. After my two holidays, I have suffered a mixture of sleep deprevation and mild drunkedness, and whilst not being life threatening, it damn well hurts!
Ibiza and Tenerife were awesome, it was great to go on two totally different holiday’s with two different groups of friends and experience the unique features of the individuals within them. While Ibiza was mainly a clubbing holiday where I visited 5 of the main super clubs, Tenerife was a sitting-by-the-pool holiday where you could enjoy the hot weather and speak to all the good looking women by the pool.
I happened to be the only person who went to Tenerife who was single, I must say it had it’s good and bad points. I was able to not worry about talking to girls who my mates may try and halt my progress but it also meant that when I was trying to strike up conversation with a group of say 6/7 girls, the others wouldnt be as interested in the menial conversation that tends to crop up when you first chat to a group of people. Overall, I would say that Tenerife left me with more confidence in myself, I was able to strike up friendships instantly with people by the pool, people on a night out and yes I did manage to hook up with a few aswell.
When I came home, I wanted to strike up a relationship with someone, stop being a single bloke and start enjoying someone elses company. The first night back, I managed to find someone who could possibly fit that bill, after talking to her in a club, she happened to be at the same pub last night and we resumed our conversation. I text her and it looks like we are meeting up for a few drinks, all in all I am pretty happy.
If you are wondering about the ankle, I went to football training yesterday and a new kid flew in recklessly on my ankle, not wanting to be one to shirk from a tackle, I went in to win the ball and the new kid basically took out my ankle. At first it was achy and I could play on, after driving home and sitting down, the pain became unbearable. I put a pack on frozen peas on it and took some Ibruprofen to numb the pain. I doubt I will be able to make training on Wedsnesday now, I am not happy.

It’s BBQ time…
Posted by Matt under General, Happy, People, Sport
Phew, what a day. It started off with an early morning hangover, I raised myself and opened the windows, DAMN it was hot in there.
Apon waking, I had to go back into town to pickup my car from the night before. I had ventured to the pub, drank lots and lots and lots of Magners Cider and ended up in the fine establishment we call “The Brush“. Once I had recovered my wheels, the day was ahead of me, all I needed to do is decide what I wanted to do with it.
I phoned my compadre Luke and invited him over, possibly for some BBQ offerings, all I needed was the meat. As he ventured over, he contacted another amigo; Ryan and suddenly things were looking up.
I prepped the BBQ, opened the house to the world and waited for the triumphant heroes to arrive. They promptly arrived, boasting an impressive array of meats and alcoholic beverages. Each meat type was imaculately prepared by myself. We feasted on burgers, spicy chicken, ribs and other various titbits until bellies were full to bursting.
Then came the retro gaming, we cracked open the N64 and loaded up Goldeneye (possibly the greatest FPS ever). Being a Halo convert, it took time to revert back to the N64 joypad but once that boundary was broken, the streets ran red with blood………..most of it mine
Mario Kart 64, Pokemon Stadium (Run Rattata Run!) followed.
The gaming wasnt enough for us though, we were swiftly joined by Cheg who brought the tally to 4. We ventured into the midday heat and played some football, this lasted until Cheg decided to throw the ball at Luke and destroy my mums rose bush.
This however was a blessing in disguise. Jumping in the car, we drove down to the local park and played yet more football. This moved onto the 5 a side pitch which resulted in a 2 on 2 game. Myself and Cheg won 7-1, Luke playing in bare feet. To finish we played 21’s, what a game. I managed to clinch the first game with a flourish towards the end after some stiff competition from Luke. The second however wasnt so fun, a first to 11 match saw me run in last with Ryan winning followed closely by Luke and Cheg. We returned home and went our separate ways.
What a day, this is what life is supposed to be like…….oh and I have Star Wars Episode III now as Luke left it behind

Damned if you do and damned if you dont….

I go to the gym three times a week, I work out as hard as I physically can. There is a dude down there who is physically massive, he has calves the size of my thighs and attends competitions for bodybuilding every month.
Well, he died today. He was in the Sauna at the gym and collapsed with a heart attack. Turns out he was 52, when he only looked 30-odd.
You can do no exercise and live 80 years or goto the gym and die at 50…….if it’s your time, it’s your time.
